A Story About Commercial Photography by Arizona Photographer Elaine Kessler
Great images are critical to the success of a business: they reflect the hopes, intentions and promises of a company. They also make the company more personal and accessible. These images were made for the company’s new location and intended to celebrate its promise to the community to serve it and always deliver excellence. Utilizing commercial photography is a great way for a company to announce when they change locations. Amazing photography also entices old customers and prospects to visit. Images can also be used on the company website, for marketing materials and within the company newsletter.
LIGHTING
Lighting is important for commercial photography. While I aspire to utilize natural light when possible, I love the flexibility and beauty studio lighting makes possible. These images were created using natural light from south and west
facing windows and two speed lights with umbrellas. Indoor photography can be done any time of day.
THE PROCESS
Commercial sessions typically start with a free consultation so we can discuss your goals and vision. However, my 2.5 years of experience and the 200+ commercial photo shoots I’ve done means that I have the confidence to shoot sight unseen knowing that I can create images that will stun my clients, no matter the setting.
During your consultation, we’ll also discuss the vibe, intent, interests, and target market you have in mind for your shoot. Doing so will help you style your space although I’m able to do some styling during your shoot. Having a clean office and fresh flowers is always a good idea.
I’m often asked how long a shoot will last. The answer is, I’ve done shoots that are an hour and others that have been 2 days. I’m happy to meet with clients to develop a concept and plan that efficiently utilizes everyone’s time.
We can include people in your photographs if you prefer. If we shoot during high traffic times, I offer model release forms just in case.
Editing the images typically takes from one to two weeks.
COLLABORATION
When doing commercial photography, I make a point to collaborate with the company’s marketing team. I look for insight from clients and their teams as to what they aspire toward. It is always my intention to deliver both an experience that has impact and excellence AND images that create the future my clients want. Yes, amazing photography really can have that kind of impact!
GOOD TO KNOW
Commercial photography clients often choose to have head shots done of their staff at the time of their interior shoot. Does your staff need updated photos taken? Why not do them on the day of your shoot?
All images from commercial sessions receive a royalty free commercial use license. Royalty-free, or RF, refers to the right to use copyrighted material without the need to pay royalties or license fees for each use. My clients can use their images however they want, except to sell the images as their own works of art.
I am also available to do architectural photography.
